October 2, 2009, a roundtable on the topic “Implementation of European standards of municipal management in the city of Odesa” took place in M. Hrushevsky Odesa Oblast Library.
The event was organized by Odesa City Public Organization “Face to Face” together with Odesa Center for European Information, within the framework of a project “Odesa — Window into Europe”. The project is being implemented under the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and facilitated by the Administration for European Integration, International Relations and Links with Odesa Diaspora of the Odesa City Council.
Representatives of bodies of local authority, deputies of the city council, scholars, leading public figures, employees of consulates and journalists participated in the sitting.
Per results of the roundtable, the following was recommended, in particular:
- to direct efforts of bodies of local authority and the public on implementation of democratic standards of municipal management;
- to increase awareness of the city residents regarding prospects for cooperation of the Odesa Region with the EU;
- to develop the Program of information support for European integration processes;
- to organize a system of education and enhancement of professional level of leadership of bodies of authority and of public activists;
- to provide comprehensive organizational, information and grant support to public organizations and population self-organization bodies that provide information support in the area of European integration, etc.
