Just Transition
Purpose
To strengthen public participation in just transition processes in Ukraine’s coal-mining regions. Just transition is an approach that has long been in use in Europe, but has only recently begun to develop actively in Ukraine. It helps prepare coal-mining communities and towns with a single-industry economy for the structural changes associated with the phase-out of fossil fuels, so that people are not forced to leave in search of work and communities do not lose their future.
