“Ukrainian Energy” wins contest “Energy Efficiency. In Simple Terms”

More than 50 candidates from 29 publications vied for top honors

The Ukrainian Energy website has been named the winner of the “Energy Efficiency. In Simple Terms” contest held by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) with assistance from the European Commission. The online resource is maintained by the DiXi Group NGO with support from the International Renaissance Foundation’s Civil Society and Good Governance Program.

The special prize – a study visit to Finland – was awarded to Ukrainian Energy journalist Iryna Petrenko.

More than 50 candidates from 29 publications vied for top honors. The jury reviewed nearly 80 submissions. The jury chairman, SAEE head Mykola Pashkevych, in praising the quality of the journalism, remarked: “Selecting the best was a difficult decision. As the head of the agency, I’m pleased to say that there are journalists in Ukraine who are not only knowledgeable about renewable energy and energy efficiency, but also have the enthusiasm to deliver this information to the public.”

In her turn, journalist Iryna Petrenko noted that renewable energy and energy efficiency are priority topics for Ukrainian Energy, given reader interest in these relevant and important issues. She is confident the alternative energy trend in Europe will soon reach Ukraine.
