Association with the EU: Ukraine’s progress in three directions of reform

In December 2016, Ukrainian experts prepared a package of comprehensive reports with recommendations for Ukrainian and European parties of Ukraine's progress of reforms, pursuant to obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Ukrainian experts prepared a package of comprehensive reports with recommendations for Ukrainian and European parties of Ukraine’s progress of reforms, pursuant to obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Although the success of Ukrainian reforms is seen, they still cannot be considered irreversible. The confrontation between supporters of change and defenders of the status quo continues. Partners in the European Union recognize the real achievements of Ukraine:

– Changes in anti-discrimination legislation,

– A start of the e-declaration tool,

– A start of the real work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine,

– The actual transfer of procurement in online thanks to ProZorro,

– A real start of the judicial reform through changes to the Constitution,

– Restart the Supreme Court and the voluntary retire of 2000 judges of the old system out of 7000.

Due to the cooperation with the European Union, International Monetary Fund and other international partners, Ukraine has managed to achieve these victories of reforms.

Reports were prepared within the European Program Initiative of the International Renaissance Foundation and were presented in Brussels to the representatives of the European Parliament, Working Party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia to the EU Council, members of the Support Group for Ukraine at the European Commission, European Commissioners’ advisors, employees of the European External Action Service and representatives of other organizations.
