The office of the NGO Persona and one of Pavlohrad’s kindergartens have gone green

The Persona Center for Innovative Development, a non-profit organization participating in the Impulse project, made its office green and donated waste sorting bins to a preschool in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region.

On September 20, the world and Ukraine celebrated World Cleanup Day. And from that day on, the Persona Center for Innovative Development introduced waste sorting in its premises. Containers for paper, plastic, glass, metal waste, and “Other” were purchased and installed. We also collect plastic caps separately.

The NGO donated the same containers to one of the city’s preschools. “The preschool staff welcomed the guests with warmth and sincerity,” the organization notes. For teachers and children, this initiative was an important step towards developing environmental awareness from an early age. From now on, children will not only hear about the need to sort waste, but also see how it works in practice.

“Environmental education is an important component in the development of a child’s personality. A lot of work has already been done in preschools and general education institutions to introduce environmental education for participants in the educational process. We are implementing our own research project, from waste sorting to the creation of an environmental book,” said Olena Osnach, deputy director of the institution for the organization of educational work.

“We want there to be less waste in Pavlohrad, not only through recycling, but also through the conscious attitude of residents. We are starting with kindergartens, because it is with children that a culture of responsible consumption is formed. If we join forces, we will be able to clean up our city and, eventually, the entire planet,“ comments Olena Kochanova, head of the NGO ”Persona Center for Innovative Development.”
