“Impulse”: results of the first wave of small grants competition

The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), together with the East Europe Foundation(EEF), with the support of the Norwegian Agency for Development and Cooperation (Noradand in partnership with Sweden (Sida), is implementing a project “Empowering Civil Society for Ukraine’s Resilience and Recovery” (“Impulse”). As part of this project, a Small Grants Competition was announced for organizations from the regions of Ukraine most affected by the war.

The purpose of the small grants competition is to engage civil society organizations from the most affected regions in planning Ukraine’s recovery and advocating for the principles of sustainable development, human rights, non-discrimination, gender equality, and transparency in governance strategies and community development plans. Provide opportunities for team organizational development through small grants, involvement in the training program, and partnership development.

The Expert Council of the Democracy and Good Governance Program, which conducted the competition, supported 16 out of 140 draft proposals. The winners of the competition are:

  • NGO “Bakhmut fortress”
  • Kherson Region Charitable Fund “Union”
  • NGO “Ro3kvit Urban Coalition of Ukraine”
  • NGO “Ukrainian Institute For International Politics”
  • NGO “Maidan Monitoring Information Centre”
  • NGO “Ukraine Support Team”
  • NGO “Urban Initiatives Agency”
  • NGO “Zero Waste ZP”
  • NGO “Zero Waste Kharkiv”
  • NGO “Urbanization”
  • NGO “Siverskyi Donets Crisis Media Center”
  • NGO “Institute For Social Innovation”
  • Charity Organization “Charity Fund “Mission Kharkiv””

Soon, representatives of the Foundation will contact the winning organizations to agree on the next steps.
