An updated version of the online memorial platform ‘Book of Remembrance for Those Who Died for Ukraine’ is now operational.
The project was implemented by the Eleos-Ukraine network with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, and the IT Brander team worked on updating the website.
The updated version has a modern design and runs on the latest technologies, which guarantee reliable data protection. Currently, the ‘Book of Remembrance’ is in the process of being updated, supplemented and processed. The platform already contains 4,600 profiles of those who died between 2014 and 2022, and information about those who have died since 24 February 2022 is constantly being updated. Users can add to the Book of Remembrance of Those Who Died for Ukraine through their personal accounts by uploading biographical data, photographs and memories of the deceased.
“The Book of Remembrance is not a statistical reference book with numbers of the dead, but an interactive resource where the profile of a defender is the story of his life, love, family, military service and circumstances of death. We strive to collect the names of all fallen soldiers, not to lose a single story, a single human life given for our independence in this war,” says Maksym Popov, a military officer and one of the project’s founders.
In addition to commemorating the fallen, the platform contains information about services for military personnel, veterans, and their families, including psychological and legal support.
“It is important that we do not simply mourn the dead, but honour their lives. Every story, every memory added to the platform is a light that dispels the darkness of oblivion. The memory of our heroes must be eternal. We must preserve and pass on to future generations the true story of those who gave their lives for our freedom,” said Serhiy Dmytriyev, chaplain and chairman of the board of the NGO Eleos-Ukraine.
Currently, the Book of Remembrance of Those Who Died for Ukraine operates on a volunteer basis. You can support the development of the platform by following this link.
