Effective community self-organization – best practices and guidelines

Experts of the NGO “Association for Community Self-Organization Assistance” and the Odesa Public Institute for Social Technologies have issued a new brochure entitled “Organizing Effective Social Work through Community Self-Organization Groups. Best Practices and Guidelines.”

Experts of the NGO “Association for Community Self-Organization Assistance” and the Odesa Public Institute for Social Technologies have issued a new brochure entitled “Organizing Effective Social Work through Community Self-Organization Groups. Best Practices and Guidelines”.

The publication provides examples of social services and assistance provided by Ukrainian community groups, charitable organizations and NGOs. It provides guidelines on organizing cooperation between stakeholders, creating a local system of social mutual aid, as a form of local self-organization that is based on charity and compassion.

The brochure also offers advice from representatives of civil society and government on how to improve conditions for organized communities to address social problems. These recommendations were developed by experts with the aim of improving the effectiveness of social assistance in the current environment in Ukraine.

The brochure was published with support from the International Renaissance Foundation as part of the project “Strengthening the Social Functions of Community Organizations.”
