Russian intellectuals donated blood to Ukrainian military

February 23, at the Principal Military Clinical Hospital in Kiev a group of prominent Russian intellectuals donated blood for Ukrainian soldiers wounded in the ATO area.

February 23, at the Principal Military Clinical Hospital in Kiev a group of prominent Russian intellectuals donated blood for Ukrainian soldiers wounded in the ATO area. Andrei Illarionov, President of the Institute of Economic Analysis, Paul Basanets, international lawyer, Natalia Pivovarova, economistAndrei Piontkovsky, an independent expertwho was eager to join their colleagues, was not admitted by to become a blood donor for  medical reasons. Yevhen Bystrytsky, the Executive Director of the International Renaissance Foundation, also joined Russian intellectuals donating blood for Ukrainian soldiers.

The idea appeared on the round table “Ukraine-Russia: dialogue in the course of conflict”, held Kyiv on February 21. The participants gathered to find ways to dialogue between intellectual communities of Ukraine and Russia to mark the ways to overcome conflict.

“The discussion of Ukrainian and Russian representatives of intellectual communities of the two countries in the course of military conflict demonstrated a common understanding of its factors and the fact that it is a direct consequence of the authoritarian and aggressive nature of the Putin regime. They identified joint actions and important international efforts for overcoming conflict”, Yevhen Bystrytsky stated.

Organizers say this round table, aimed at setting up Ukrianian-Russian dialogue, is not going to be  a one-time event. They plan to hold a next meeting, involving more experts and analysts from both countries.
