The 6th Forum on Legal Reforms for Civil Society, “Responsible for a Sustainable Democracy,” was held in Kyiv, with the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in attendance

On September 16, the 6th annual Forum on Legal Reforms for Civil Society, “Responsible for a Sustainable Democracy,” took place in the capital. Participants focused, in particular, on the development of a new National Strategy for Promoting the Development of Civil Society in Ukraine for 2027–2032, necessary legal reforms, and mechanisms for cooperation between the government and the civil society sector.

According to Oleksandr Kornienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as reported on his official Facebook page, the forum addressed the conditions for the work of civil society organizations, civil society’s participation in shaping public policy, legislative changes, and Ukraine’s European integration.

Special attention was given to the activities of civil society and volunteer organizations working in frontline communities, engaged in evacuation and demining efforts, supporting people, advocating for legislative changes, and contributing to the formation of public policy.

According to Oleksandr Korniienko, it is important for parliament to hear the proposals, comments, and expectations of civil society representatives. He also noted that some of the changes have already been implemented, while other issues still require joint efforts.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the organizers, partners, and participants of the forum, emphasizing the importance of continuing the dialogue between the state and civil society.

The 6th Forum was organized by the Center for Democracy and the Rule of Law with support from the Sigrid Rausing Trust and the International Renaissance Foundation, in partnership with the Kyiv City State Administration.
