The Nika Production and Training Center in Uzhgorod and the Romani Chhib (Roma Language) Zakarapattia Oblast Society have organized professional training courses for Roma youth in Uzhhorod. The initiative is supported by the International Renaissance Foundation’s Roma of Ukraine Program.  

Three groups of students are learning the skills necessary to become hairdressers, shoemakers and seamstresses. There is also a practical component to the program – the students are providing hairdressing services, repairing clothing and shoes, and making simple but useful things for the residents of the Shakhta neighborhood. The graduates of the courses will receive state certificates.
