Prospective participants are promised not only training but also mentoring support and the opportunity to speak with a Polish audience about important shared topics.

Poland has announced a call for activists to join the “Bridges of Ukraine” project. Participants will learn advocacy and communication skills to systematically amplify the voice of the Ukrainian community in the media and public sphere.

The initiative is being jointly implemented by the Ukrainian civic initiative “Holka” and the Polish foundation “Alliance of Ukrainian Youth ‘August 24’ (24/08).”

What the “Bridges of Ukraine” Program Entails

As part of the project, the plan is to establish a network of at least 20 representatives of the Ukrainian community in Poland. In addition, a set of key analytical messages will be prepared with the participation of Ukrainian and Polish experts. The main topics will include: security; European integration; shared history; and countering propaganda.

Participants will take part in advocacy activities and appearances in the Polish media. The training component will cover the Polish socio-political and cultural context, as well as preparation for public speaking.

The program provides mentoring support for leaders of Ukrainian communities in Poland and assistance in developing communication skills with local audiences.

Our goal is to help Ukrainians in Poland gain a deeper understanding of the local context, integrate more effectively, and build an open dialogue with their Polish partners. Understanding the challenges facing both countries will enable us to form a united front against the enemy. When Ukrainians and Poles learn about and understand one another and act together, it strengthens the resilience of both societies and contributes to the security and stability of Ukraine and Poland.

— Margarita Sytnik, author and project director of “Bridges of Ukraine”

For Ukrainian youth in Poland, this is an opportunity to turn local initiatives into an effective tool for influence. The project will help activists counter disinformation, build trust with local communities, maintain constructive ties with their homeland, and gain platforms to realize their potential.

– Artur Koldomasov, president of the “August 24 Ukrainian Youth Alliance” Foundation (24/08)
