The 5th Belarusian-Ukrainian Ostrogski Forum Will Take Place in Kyiv

This year’s forum program focuses on how Russia’s war against Ukraine is changing the region and what role a democratic Belarus and Belarusian communities might play in the new security architecture.

Can the support for Ukraine provided by Belarusian democratic forces and communities serve as the foundation for a full-fledged partnership between the two countries? Why did the long-awaited meeting between Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Volodymyr Zelenskyy fail to resolve specific migration, banking, and social issues faced by Belarusians in Ukraine? What role can Belarusians play in Ukrainian society, and what responsibilities do they bear toward the country during the war?

Participants will also discuss whether culture can become part of a joint effort to counter the “Russian World,” how to make the voice of anti-war Belarus more audible in Ukraine, and what role Belarusian volunteers might play for Ukraine in the long term: merely as participants in today’s war, or as part of broader Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation in the security sphere?

The forum will also feature the results of new research on Belarusian-Ukrainian relations.

About the Ostrogski Forum

The Ostrogski Forum is a regular Belarusian-Ukrainian expert platform created to discuss pressing issues in bilateral relations and develop practical proposals for resolving them. Traditionally, the event consists of two parts: the political segment takes place in Kyiv, and the expert segment in Lviv.

The Forum brings together experts, researchers, and representatives of civil society and political institutions from Belarus and Ukraine. Its work is grounded in support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both countries, rejection of Russian aggression and occupation, and support for the democratic development and European choice of Belarus and Ukraine.
