The position of Youth Initiative Regional Coordinator in Ukraine
The International Renaissance Foundation invites applications for the position of Youth Initiative Regional Coordinator in Ukraine.
The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) is both a local entity and a part of the Open Society Foundations founded by the financier and philanthropist George Soros. The IRF is a nonprofit organization aimed at providing financial and organizational support for building an open, democratic society by supporting the most innovative and progressive civic initiatives.
Engaging youth in the activities of civil society is a priority for the IRF and other initiatives of the Open Society Foundations. Seeking to enhance youth participation, capacity and impact on the development of society, the International Renaissance Foundation and the Open Society Youth Initiative (YI) invite applications for the position of Youth Initiative Regional Coordinator in Ukraine.
The Open Society Youth Initiative supports youth self-organisation and civic activism, and seeks to learn from a network of young, active citizens promoting open society ideals. The YI provides grants to youth-led organizations, fosters international youth cooperation and youth networking, and encourages youth participation in the development and implementation of youth policies at the national, regional and international levels.
The Youth Initiative Regional Coordinator’s responsibilities will include:
– Working as part of an international team for the implementation of YI’s strategic priorities;
– Development and implementation of a YI regional strategy that presupposes the ability to work as an expert;
– Coordination of projects in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus; organizing YI events at the regional level; developing communication and cooperation between YI and youth initiatives in Armenia, the Baltics, Georgia, and Poland;
– Ensuring interaction between YI and initiatives of the IRF;
– Facilitating the monitoring and evaluation of YI activities in the region;
– Building and developing cooperation with third parties/partners: governments, international organizations, NGOs in Ukraine and the region;
– Participation in national, regional and international conferences and events, as well as representation of YI work in Ukraine;
– Organization of participation research and assessments and preparation of analytical materials on key YI issues;
– Ongoing monitoring of developments related to youth and youth policy in the region.
Qualifications:
– Masters degree or equivalent in social sciences; background in international relations or related areas is a plus;
– At least 3-5 years’ experience in grant-making institutions and / or international relations;
– A proven track record of work in civil society;
– Good knowledge of youth issues in Ukraine and the region;
– Excellent program management skills, including strategic planning;
– Proven track record in grant management from solicitation to closure, including analyzing budgets, tracking financial reporting, conducting site visits, and monitoring and evaluation;
– High motivation, ability to work effectively independently and within a team at the national and international levels;
– Ability to show initiative and innovation;
– Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders; ability to build and maintain positive working relationships;
– Dependability, attention to details, ability to meet deadlines, flexibility, capacity and will to work on a wide scope of issues at a time, combined with ability to prioritize;
– Excellent oral and written English, Ukrainian, and Russian;
– Proven public speaking; research and presentation skills in English;
– Advanced computer user skills, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Internet;
– Ability to travel frequently within Ukraine and abroad.
Salary: competitive, based on the candidate’s qualifications and the interview results.
