The forth Brussels Ukraine Laboratory spoke about elections in Ukraine and EU

On February 25 the forth Brussels Ukraine Laboratory was hosted by the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels in partnership with the Civic Synergy Project, and other partners.

The Laboratory was opened by the presentation of the analytical report “Integration within the Association: dynamics of the Implementation of the Agreement between Ukraine and EU”, made by Dmitry Shulga, head of the Civic Synergy Project, to commend the “Marketplace of ideas” for the development of civil society in Ukraine.

Many people talk about the Association Agreement without reading it, or not realizing what they were reading. Our report helps to understand that this is an agreement on economic integration, that provides not only “homework” for Ukraine, but also clarifies what should happen after its implementation: a decision of the European Union on Ukraine’s integration into the Internal Market of the EU in 14 sectors. In our report we provide a detailed analysis of some of them and show that the results are different now: in some areas Ukraine is lagging behind with the “homework”, whereas in some other areas it is actually doing well, however, today the EU is still reluctant to make respective decisions. One way or another, in the near future the task of the Association Agreement implementation shall be a priority task for the government, parliament and president, regardless of who wins the election”, – said Dmytro Shulga.
