Oleksandr Sushko, Executive Director of the International Renaissance Foundation.

PhD in Political Science, specialising in international relations.

He has headed the International Renaissance Foundation since 2018. From 2000 to 2006, he headed the Centre for Peace, Conversion and Foreign Policy of Ukraine, and from 2006 to 2017 he served as Research Director of the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation.

From 2011 to 2017, he was Chairman of the Board of the International Renaissance Foundation, and in 2018 he took up the post of Executive Director of the Foundation.

He was the National Coordinator of the Ukrainian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and the first Co-Chair of the Ukraine–EU Civil Society Platform (2015–2016).

His areas of interest include European politics, relations between Ukraine and the EU, Schengen law and its implications for the EU’s eastern neighbours, EU visa and migration policy, border management, mobility and international contacts.
