Hryhoriy Baran

Director of the 'Social Capital' Programme

Candidate of Philological Sciences.

He began his career as an English teacher at a rural school; after obtaining his Candidate of Philological Sciences degree, he worked as an associate professor in the Department of English Language and Teaching Methodology at Kherson State University.

He joined the International Renaissance Foundation in 2010 as manager of the Anti-Crisis Humanitarian Programme, and subsequently became secretary of the Foundation’s Board and manager of educational projects.

He undertook training in educational administration at the State University of New York as a fellow of the IREX University Administration Support Programme, and at Iowa State University as a fellow of the Fulbright Programme for the Development of Junior Faculty.

His areas of interest include education and management in education policy, community development and building, working with independent media, the preservation of human and social capital, project management, and the development of NGOs.
