The International Renaissance Foundation has finished reviewing the 120 applications received from volunteer initiatives in response to its call for proposals. The competition lasted from September 16-26 and has a budget of one million hryvnias. The majority of proposals came from new volunteer initiatives.

Ukrainian volunteers are working with dedication on a broad range of activities, assuming much of the burden of providing internally displaced persons  from Eastern Ukraine with housing, food, psychological assistance, employment, legal advice, etc. These volunteers have accomplished a great deal, and thus the competition was aimed at promoting their work and creating better institutional conditions for volunteer initiatives that are provided assistance to different categories of IDPs, humanitarian aid for the military and organization of civil defense.

It was important for us that the bulk of the applications and winners came from regions where IRF recently opened regional offices: Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv.

It was very difficult for us to choose between applicants as their effectiveness and dedication were equally high. We tried to give priority to those volunteer missions most in need. At the same time, we understand that every volunteer and volunteer movement is making a meaningful contribution to helping the country.

Congratulations to all the winners!
