Presentation of the English-language book *Hunting for the Cruiser “Moskva”*

Ukrinform hosted the presentation of the English-language version of the book on the sinking of the cruiser “Moskva”—*Hunting for the Cruiser “Moskva”*

A presentation of the English-language version of a journalistic and analytical study dedicated to the destruction of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva—Hunting for the Cruiser Moskva—took place in Kyiv.

As noted by Oleksandr Chudnovets, chairman of the board of the Kyiv Military-Historical Society and co-author of the book “Hunting for the Cruiser ‘Moskva’,” this is the second presentation of the book, which serves as a unique contribution to the information war against the enemy.

“Those who do not know their own history will sooner or later begin to study the history of another country. That is why this book is our—Oleksandr’s (Oleksandr Chudnovets—ed.) and mine—information war with the Russians for our independence,” emphasized the book’s co-author, military history researcher, and member of the board of the Kyiv Military History Society, Andriy Bulavin.

The participants in the presentation noted that the book *Hunting for the Cruiser “Moskva”* is a detailed journalistic and analytical study of the unique military operation to destroy the flagship of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet. The book contains exclusive accounts and technical details regarding the use of the Ukrainian “Neptune” missile system. The book also provides a detailed reconstruction of the events that took place during the naval confrontation in 2022.

The authors of the book emphasized that the Russian Ministry of Defense has not acknowledged and will never acknowledge that the cruiser “Moscow” was destroyed by Ukrainian “Neptune” missiles, and that the Russian military command continues to try to conceal the truth to this day.

According to the authors of the study, the information presented in the book has generated significant interest among military experts both in Ukraine and abroad, so the English-language version appeals to a wide range of readers who are following events in Ukraine and the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“Some of the books went to the U.S., some to Canada, some to the UK, and some to Norway, Germany, Austria, and Finland. And there are still a number of requests to send these books to other countries,” Bulavin said, adding that there are many inquiries from the military professional community in various countries.

In turn, Alla Istomina, director of ADEF-Ukraine Publishing House LLC, announced that the current plan is to present the book at the Frankfurt Book Fair, where it will be available for review not only by military experts but also by anyone interested in the Russia-Ukraine war.

“Our work continues; the book has only just begun its journey,” Istomina noted.

As reported, on April 13, 2022, Ukrainian Neptune missiles struck the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the $750 million missile cruiser Moskva. It sank on April 14. The Russian Ministry of Defense publicly acknowledged the deaths of five sailors on the Moskva.

According to Oleksiy Danilov, then-Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, there were 510 people on board the Moskva at the time of the strike, of whom 58 were rescued.

On January 22, 2026, a Russian court handed down a verdict in the case of the sinking of the cruiser “Moscow” in April 2022, sentencing Andriy Shubin, commander of the 406th Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy, in absentia to life imprisonment under the article on international terrorism.
