Freedom House will present a report on democracy in Ukraine
The first public presentation of a report on the state of democracy in Ukraine produced by the Freedom House and discussion with the authors will take place in Kyiv at the International Renaissance Foundation (46 Artema Street) on June 5 at 9:30 AM.
This report follows a study “Sounding the Alarm: Protecting Democracy in Ukraine” supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.
In April 2012, Freedom House experts had a number of meetings with senior Ukrainian officials, including President Viktor Yanukovych, leaders of the political opposition, and civil society leaders, in order to produce an unbiased and thorough assessment of the state of democracy in Ukraine.
The presenters will include David J. Kramer, President of the Freedom House; Damon Wilson, Executive Vice President at the Atlantic Council; Oleksandr Sushko, Research Director at the Institute of Euro-Atlantic Cooperation, Victoria Sjumar, Executive Director of the Institute of mass Information, and Robert Nurick, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council.
Well-known politicians and diplomats, leading experts, and journalists are invited to take part in the event.
