George Soros establishes Strategic advisory groups to assist Ukraine’s government

George Soros, Founder of the Open Society Foundations and the International Renaissance Foundation, initiated the establishment of Strategic advisory groups to assist the Ukraine’s government in reform implementation

George Soros, Founder of the Open Society Foundations and the International Renaissance Foundation, has initiated the establishment of the Strategic advisory groups (SAG) to assist Ukraine’s government in implementing reforms. He discussed this initiative with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting held on June 16 in Kyiv. The meeting was attended by Oleksandr Sushko, Chairman of the Board of the International Renaissance Foundation, and Yevhen Bystrytsky, Executive Director of the IRF.
 
According to the President’s press office, George Soros informed the head of state about the strategic plan of reforms for Ukraine. “We set up the Strategic advisory groups for immediate reaction to challenges as they arise,” he said.
 
In his turn, the President of Ukraine stressed the necessity to coordinate efforts in implementing reforms in Ukraine. He expressed strong support for George Soros’s initiative to offer free political risk insurance to those who invest in and do business with Ukraine. Petro Poroshenko also promised to provide an effective mechanism for reform implementation.
 
Petro Poroshenko thanked George Soros and the International Renaissance Foundation for its long-term and consistent support of reforms and the development of civil society in Ukraine.
