Winners of the mini-grant competition of the project “Creation of favorable conditions for organization and operation of condominium associations in Melitopol” announced
Serhiy Valter, Secretary of the Melitopol City Council, noted that victory of the Association of “Owners of apartment houses of Melitopol” in the competition for funding from the International Renaissance Foundation is another important achievement of the Association in terms of civil society development and a real opportunity to activate community for promotion of reforms in housing and public utilities sector of the city.
Implementation of this particular grant, according to Serhiy Valter, is a real opportunity to support initiative groups and condominium associations. He also said that the project “Creation of favorable conditions for organization and operation of condominium associations in Melitopol” will promote development of initiatives at the grassroots level and will allow solving urgent problems of the city and particular houses, winners of the competition. Overall, implementation of such micro-grants provides the closest contact with ordinary citizens and improves their welfare, according to Serhiy Valter. Due to initiatives of citizens through implementation of such projects, one can learn about NGOs and find out about their activities. In the future, this will create favorable conditions for reforming housing and public utilities sector in Melitopol by means of creating condominium associations.
Taras Henov, member of the Melitopol City Council and chairman of the competition committee, emphasized that committee expected greater activity of condominium associations in the competition. Vasyl Ishchenko, member of competition committee, greeted the winners and noted that the most important thing is to believe in oneself and break stereotype thinking, they say, nothing depends on us.
The project “Creation of favorable conditions for organization and operation of condominium associations in Melitopol”, which is implemented by the Association of “Owners of apartment houses of Melitopol” with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, aims at supporting public initiatives to create favorable conditions for organization and operation of condominium associations in Melitopol.
