Ukrainian experts and journalists discussed the Transnistrian settlement with the Deputy Prime Minister of Reintegration of Moldova

Participants discussed prospects for settlement of the Transnistrian conflict in the 5 +2 format, the position of new Ukrainian government on this issue, the role of NGOs in the development of trust between the population of Moldova and Transnistria, as well as relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.

The meeting was held during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister to Ukraine, with the aim to discuss the position of official Kyiv and Ukrainian experts before wider consultations on the Transnistrian settlement in Astana (Kazakhstan) in the 5 +2 format, which begin on May 24, 2010.

During the round table, the publication “Transnistrian Problem: View from Ukraine” was presented. The report is published by the Strategic and Security Studies Group with support of the International Renaissance Foundation, “Open Ukraine” and Viktor Pinchuk’s Foundations.
