Roundtable “Courts and Mass Media: Dialog between the Third and the Fourth Powers” took place in Cherkasy

October 7, 2009, a roundtable “Courts and Mass Media: Dialog between the Third and the Fourth Powers” took place in the hall of Cherkasy Oblast Scientific Library named after Taras Shevchenko.

At the roundtable, journalists and judges had an opportunity to discuss problematic issues of cooperation, in particular, access to court sittings and specifics of their coverage.

The Project “Courts and Mass Media: Dialog between the Third and the Fourth Powers” is being carried out under the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and it is directed on development of journalists’ knowledge and skills for coverage of court proceedings, as well as on facilitation of improvement of activity of bodies for legal proceedings, and enhancement of the authority of the judicial branch of power among the public.

Chief editors of Cherkasy oblast and regional mass media, heads of regional and city district courts participated in the roundtable.
