Pact Inc., International Renaissance Foundation and Eastern Europe Foundation announce the winners of competition of local initiatives

Partners of the Program “The Ukraine National Initiatives to Enhance Reforms” (UNITER) have supported 28 projects-winners of the All-Ukrainian competition of local initiatives, for the total amount of 340,000 US dollars, for implementation of reforms on the local level.

Implementation of the component “Support of Local Initiatives” of UNITER Program, being fulfilled by Pact Inc., became possible due to sincere support of the American people, provided through United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation.

The competition was conducted for the purpose of supporting the projects, directed on facilitation of changes and influence on local policy, provision of public participation on the local level in the processes of planning of policy and reforms, protection of citizens’ rights and facilitation of accountability of executive authorities to active public organizations and citizens. In total, 227 projects from all regions of Ukraine were submitted to the competition. All projects passed a review of independent experts and after that they were considered at a sitting of the competition commission. The commission also made a decision that 19 projects would be administered by the Eastern Europe Foundation and 9 projects – by the International Renaissance Foundation.
