International Renaissance Foundation and World Bank support the monitoring of municipal services

The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) and the World Bank Country Office in Ukraine will support the monitoring of the range of municipal services by civil society organizations. The Memorandum between the organizations was signed on January 22.

By the end of March the World Bank Country Office in Ukraine together with the World Bank Institute will organize a series of trainings for CSOs (including representatives of condominiums and self-organization bodies) in the regions of Ukraine on civil society monitoring of the municipal service delivery. The World Bank Country Office in Ukraine will identify, hire international and local trainers, develop agenda in consultations with the IRF and cover the logistics costs for the trainings in the regions of Ukraine, including domestic travel costs of trainers.

In June, the IRF will finance on a competitive basis 7-8 initiatives aiming at monitoring the delivery of municipal services of those CSOs which will be willing to apply knowledge received during the trainings and launch monitoring of the service delivery in selected municipalities.  The successful initiatives (grantees) will be selected in consultation with WB counterparts and a selection committee constituted for such purpose.
