In Mykolaiv, participation of the region in development of European inter-cultural dialog was discussed
The event was held within the framework of the project “Information and Education Campaign “European Mykolaiv City Open to the World that is implemented by Mykolaiv City Charitable Foundation META “From Joint Vision to Joint Actions” in a partnership with the Central Library named after Mykhailo Kropyvnytsky, LASKA Foundation, Center for Social Programs and other local organizations, under the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
The Council of National Societies of Mykolaiv Oblast acted as a co-organizer of the discussion. The event was moderated by Zynovyeva G. Yu., Executive Director of Mykolaiv City Youth Educational Society of Japanese Culture.
The following people participated in the discussion: members of National-cultural Societies of Mykolaiv Oblast, specialists of higher educational institutions of the city of Mykolaiv, scholars, students and representatives of local NGOs and mass media.
The participants discussed the following topics: historical roots of the culture of the region, problems of preservation of traditions of ethnic groups that populate our land, development of local national-cultural societies and cultural cooperation of the region with European countries.
The following people were present at the event and shared their opinions regarding participation of Mykolaiv Region in development of the European inter-cultural dialog: Shevchenko N.V., Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences of Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University; Lyapina L.A., Dean of the Faculty of Sociology of Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University; Kaimarazov M.D., Head of the Council for National Societies of Mykolaiv Oblast; representatives of Bulgarian, German, Greek, and Azerbaijani Cultural Societies.
The participants of the discussion came to a conclusion that cultural connections are the most effective means for development of dialog between representatives of different nations. They indicated that in order to have mutual understanding, it is needed to respect general human values and cultural development of any region is not possible without the rule of law.
