In Kharkiv a round-table discussion Action Plan Ukraine – European Union: Human Rights and Freedom was conducted

On May 16 within the framework of celebration of the Day of Europe, Kharkiv Regional State Administration (KRSA), Tree of Life Human Right Center, Women Organization Crown with the support of International Renaissance Foundation conducted a round table discussion Action Plan Ukraine – European Union: Human Rights and Freedom.

Participating in the round-table discussion were representatives from the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, namely, Natalya Pecherska, head of the internal policy department; Mykola Pakhnin, head of the family and youth department; Mykhailo Kamasa, deputy head of the chief department of external economic contacts and European integration.

KRSA department heads emphasized in their speeches the high priority of the European vector of Ukrainian policy and outlined the events which are to be conducted in the Kharkiv region within the framework of implementation of the Action Plan Ukraine – European Union, program of informing of the public on European integration, etc.

The deputy head of the chief department of external economic contacts and European integration one more time emphasized in his report economic aspects of the cooperation of the region with countries of the European Union in the sphere of investments, external economic activities. He reported that as of April 2007, total volume of the direct foreign investments from the EU countries into the economics of Kharkiv region accounts for more than 800 million USA dollars. Besides, he mentioned positive results of the participation of Kharkiv region delegation in the international exhibition Hannover-Messe 2007 in terms of promotion of the innovation and scientific and technological potential of the Kharkiv region.
