In Donetsk, teachers were taught methods and techniques of working with problem children

From 12 till 15 of October, Donetsk NGO “Our Future” Foundation together with Pressley Ridge Foundation (Hungary) conducted a seminar “Innovative approach of Pressley Ridge in working with problem children and youth. Ways and mechanisms of implementation and adaptation of foreign experience” and a training for schoolteachers, on methods and techniques of working with children — “Principles of re-education. Behavior management system and system of social skills”. The events were conducted in Donetsk.

The events took place within the framework of the project “Implementation of innovative approach in working with children with behavioral and emotional distresses, on the basis of international experience”, being financed by the East East: Partnership Beyond Borders Program of the International Renaissance Foundation.

The seminar “Innovative approach of Pressley Ridge in working with problem children and youth. Ways and mechanisms of implementation and adaptation of foreign experience” was intended for representatives of educational and fostering institutions and organizations that work with children and teenagers, and it was also intended for school directors and representatives of bodies of authority.

The training for schoolteachers, on methods and techniques of working with children, “Principles of re-education. Behavior management system and system of social skills”, gathered schoolteachers, teachers and tutors of other educational-fostering institutions, social workers and psychologists who work with problem children.

The participants of the training:

• received information about a behavior management system;
• had an opportunity to model certain elements of the behavior management system by acquiring direct experience;
• felt an atmosphere for discussion of ideas regarding a process of adaptation of the behavior management system in schools of the participants of the training;
• got time for forming their own system for their schools and organizations.

The following trainers from Hungary conducted the training:

• Andrea Gruber – Director of Central and Eastern European Operations, Pressley Ridge; Director of Pressley Ridge Hungary Foundation; has doctor’s degree in international relations and public relations of the University of Pittsburgh, PA, U.S.A.; master of human resources management and training of adults; Pressley Ridge trainer on the following topics: Principles of Re-Education (Re-Ed); Behavior Management System and System of Social Skills; Crisis Correctional Measures; Cultural Differences; Multi-cultural Education and Approaches; and also on topics of Social Sector Management;
• Monica Rossa – psychologist, coordinator of the Program of School Projects of Pressley Ridge Foundation, Hungary, trainer on the following topics: Behavior Management System and System of Social Skills.
