“EnergyTransparency”, a new Association of public organizations in the energy sector appeared in Ukraine

Ukraine’s public organizations in the energy sector and the sphere of issues of sustainable development united into the Association called “EnergyTransparency”. Representatives of nine organizations signed a corresponding Statement during an expanded round-table of the Kyiv International Energy Club “Q-club”.

The goal of the Association is to conduct, within the framework stipulated by the current legislation of Ukraine, supervision over usage of oil and gas resources, as well as transit potential of the country, for the purpose of promoting more sustainable economic and social development by increasing the level of transparency in the sphere of activity, related with extraction and transportation of hydrocarbon resources.

As of today, the following public organizations have joined the Association:

• International Energy Club “Q-club”
• “Nova Energiya” Alliance
• “NOMOS” Center
• “Psikheya” Center
• School of Political Analytics at NaUKMA
• Diksi Group
• Institute for Sustainable Development
• Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”
• Ukrainian Association of Liquefied Gas (“UALG” Association)

Members of the Association urged the government of Ukraine and other bodies of state authority for cooperation, hoping that such a cooperation will be productive and prove the actual strive of Ukraine’s power institutions to implement standards of transparency and reporting in their activity, to interact with the civil society while managing strategic resources of our state, as well as to fight shadowing of financial resources turnover in the oil and gas sector, which is one of the main threats to Ukraine’s energy security.

The signed Statement is open for other public organizations, which share the principles and approaches declared in it, to join the Association.
