ROMA OF UKRAINE PROGRAM GOAL is to promote the initiatives aimed at raising the level of education of Roma youth, elaboration and monitoring of the efficient state policy regarding Roma minority, improvement of access to healthcare services and promotion of Roma rights protection efforts.
Priority areas of the program activity in 2009:
ensuring quality legal protection of Roma population of Ukraine;
ensuring elaboration (or improvement) as well as realization of efficient state policies regarding the improvement of situation of Roma in Ukraine;
promotion of better access of Roma population to healthcare services in order to prevent the development of socially dependent diseases among Roma (tuberculosis, hepatitis A, B and C, HIV/AIDS, etc.);
support for education of Roma youth in secondary special technical education institutions – aimed to create new opportunities for education and the following employment of Roma youth.
The Program realization principles:
The program is implemented via holding competitions, tenders, support of unsolicited initiatives and realization of operational projects on the basis of close cooperation with NGOs, which represent the interests of Roma communities as well as with the bodies of local self-government and public administration.
The Program Board, uniting the leading Ukrainian specialists in the sphere of ensuring rights of Roma minority, is entitled to take decisions on financial support of projects.
Target audience of the program:
roma NGOs;
those NGOs, which are involved in the activity of protection of Roma rights in Ukraine;
